Charms Lesson One

Stella wasn't very surprised that she was the first one in her Charms class. She didn't spend time in the halls socializing and rushing during the last final minutes like the other students did. Stella didn't really see a reason to socialize with other people. Her friends would be in her class and she preferred talking to them where other people couldn't hear them.

Mortis had now taken to wrapping himself around her ankle so he wouldn't be spotted as easily. He didn't like to be alone while Stella was in classes. She learned that the hard way when she tried to force him to stay in his cage. Now she took the snake everywhere she went. It was nice, to have a constant companion who could talk back to her.

As she walked into the class, she noticed that the desks were put into two groups. Stella's eyebrows knitted together as she made her way over to the group for first and seconds years. Taking a seat, Stella reached over and grabbed the quiz. Stella was very thankful she had read through that Charms book last night.

Stella sighed as she looked at her quiz. Maybe she shouldn't have been as confident as she was. While she knew her Charms knowledge fairly well, she knew that she got a few of those wrong, especially Reducto. Her mind went blank when she thought of what Reducto did. She also had no clue what Obliviate was, so she left it blank.

Setting her quill and quiz down, Stella leaned back in her chair. She was hoping to actually use her wand during this class, but instead she was given a quiz instead. Fun.

Eden entered the class and sat next to a blonde girl. There was no one else in the class right now except for Eden, the girl, and Professor Petrov, who had a smirk on his face. Eden hated it. She wondered why she was taking Charms. She was horrible at it. She breathed deeply and worked on the assignment written on the board.

Eden sighed as she finished the paper. She knew that she got some of them wrong. There were some things she hadn't learned last year on this assignment. She was glad that it didn't count toward her final grade. It would be bad enough.

Violet walked into the charms class, and read the board. She had to practice the engorgio spell. Fantastic. Violet thought, sarcastic. She had a little difficulty with that spell, she had practiced during the summer. She sat down on the other side of the classroom, away from Stella. She waved as she walked by.

Violet grabbed her wand, and thought about what to practice the spell on. "Professor?" Violet asked, confident. "Is there anything in particular you want me to practice the spell on?" Violet didnt see any prop for the spell, so she just assumed to ask the teacher.

She remembered her Prefect badge, and went to take it off.

Quinn walked into the Charms classroom, a lazy expression on her face. Her old Charms professor hated her with a passion, so she was a bit more optimistic about the new one. Still, she knew that she would pass the class with an Outstanding and she would become the Healer she wanted to. Quinn knew that she shouldn't be too confident, but she was Head Girl after all. There was a reason why she was Head Girl.

Noticing that the class was split into two groups, Quinn sighed and went to go sit where she was supposed to. Noticing that she was supposed to practice a very simple spell on something, Quinn raised an eyebrow. She supposed she could ask the professor for something more challenging. Looking up, Quinn saw a Prefect ask the professor something. Quinn decided that instead of asking the teacher for an object, Quinn took off her shoe and out it in front of her.

"Engorgio." Quinn whispered, walking with a bored look on her face. Her shoe grew in size and Quinn rolled her eyes. She learned this in her third year. "Reducio." She murmured in the same bored fashion, watching it shrink back to normal. Easy.

Violet shot the girl a glare, contemplating how much trouble she would be in if she used the spell on her head. Violet didnt do it, as much as she wanted to.

She took off her ring, and said "Engorgio." The ring looked like a bracelet on the table top, and Violet said the counter curse. "Reducio."

Violet practiced the spell until it became what felt like second nature, and she was beginning to become bored practicing the same spell over and over. She put her ring back on.

Nathan made his way into the Charms classroom and walked over to the correct table after reading the board. something bigger... he thought to himself. Deciding that his quill was enough, he placed it on the table in front of him and took his wand out.

"Engorgio" he said yet nothing happened. He tried the spell quite a few more times until finally, it worked. Now the only problem was to change it back to it's normal size. He tapped his wand lightly against the table a few times as he thought about the spell.

"Reducio" he tried yet like the first time previously, nothing had happened.

Tyler sat in the nearest seat he could find once he reached the Charms classroom, he read the board, great he thought he had to try and remember things which was never an easy task. He took out a quill and quickly scribbled down what he thought might be the slightest bit right.

He put his quill back down beside the paper and didn't bother looking back at it again, he already knew most of his answers were wrong.

Theresa walked into the Charms classroomand sat down before taking out her quil, ink and some parchment. Looking over the list of spells, she sighed. She hadn't even heard of some of those spells before but she tried anyway.

She looked over her answers and wondered if she had atleast one answer right.

Alex rushed in to class, she made it in by about a minute, but she hoped the professor wouldn't say anything, about being late and about her clothes being in disarray, not to mention her hair. They looked worse than a bird's nest, not that Alex particularly cared. So pushing up the sleeves of her robes, she began writing, using her knowledge of good old English to answer.

Alex just shook her head in disbelief, her answer sheet was filled with question marks. The first time she had done it, it was so filled with crosses and ink blots, even she found it illegible, so she had to do it again. Her paper sucked, no way around it. She had guessed most of the spells by relating them to English words, and the others she had seen Mr. H use around the house. All except the Alohomora one, that she had even tried, because she found it totally awesome it could open locks. Useful skill she had thought, not that she needed it, she could open any lock in under a minute using a hair pin.

I really have all the skills of a thief!, she thought as she picked out stuff from the pockets of the other people sitting around her, none of them even noticing, feeling bored at the easiness of the task. She had even picked out Resa's dragon tooth chain, without her noticing. But she returned every single on of the objects too, again without them noticing. A thief with morals......... She thought again, singing 'Hate on Me', as she waited for someone to notice, if only for a change.

Andrew had made it to the class on time, his uniform perfect, as was his hair. He would never admit it to anyone, but he had spent at least five minutes to give it the look of artful disarray, it was in. He was so vain, it hurt even him to think about it. Waving to Ella, ignoring Black, he sat on his seat, feeling slightly excited deep down wit whatever was going to happen, The good feeling continued even as he got the quiz, he knew almost all of them, having studied his books on the way to class.

Finishing quite quickly, Andrew frowned at his answers, he knew most of them, but there were some he had no idea about. Shrugging, he put his answer sheet back on the table, debating whether he could throw a paper ball at Black's head and not miss. Deciding to give it a try, he tore off a part of his parchment, and taking careful aim, threw it at Black's head, smirking as he pretended to write his answers.
